Portlethen and District Community Council was officially reformed on 30th November 2007. Now Fully back in Business we are representing the views and interests of the community to the best of our ability.

2009 has been a busy and demanding year and we hope that some of our achievements have been appreciated e.g. the return of the Christmas Lights, pressure on the council to address the flooding threat in the Gorse Circle area.

We look forward to continuing to support and represent the local community in 2010.

Further expansion is happening on the west side of the A90 Adjacent to Portlethen with the addition of 800+ houses and associated infrastructure.

The Western Peripheral route (if it ever gets funding and approved in detail) will provide additional challenges for the release of land for housing and of ccourse we have to keep in touch with the "Trump Empire" Golf Proposals.

Community councils can carry out a variety of roles, including:

  • help with environmental projects
  • organising local galas
  • printing and distributing local newsletters (see Cloch page )
  • representing Community Councils on other organisations
  • campaigning on local issues
  • conducting local surveys
  • organising public meetings on major development proposals or the Local Plan
  • carrying out Planning for Real exercises © Neighbourhood Initiative
